Welcome to the Maxie Richards Foundation
The Maxie Richards Foundation has been nationally and internationally recognised as an organisation with an effective programme that helps support men out of lifestyles of drugs and alcohol addiction.
Maxie Richards established the foundation in 1994, having spent numerous years working with addicted people.
Maxie's work has been recognised over the years with numerous awards and accolades. She has received the awards of Scotswoman of the Year and the prestigious Churchill Fellowship.
The aims of the Maxie Richards Foundation are twofold:
- To advance the education of people in Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom about the misuse of illicit and prescribed drugs, alcohol and tobacco, and to relieve the suffering and stress of people addicted to such drugs.
- To advance the education of people on the related social, sexual and health problems connected with the use of the above substances
Where do we fit into this?
It is true that drugs are a very real part of life in our society to-day, but this doesn't mean that it has to stay that way. Drug dealers and barons do not care who becomes an addict- their concern is to make as much money as they can, any way that they can, even at the expense of young people's lives. Is this the kind of society you want? Is it the kind of society God wants?
Maxie emphasises that she is an ordinary person, but it is clear that God has chosen to use this ordinary person in extraordinary ways. We may not be chosen to do what Maxie does, but as people of God it is our privilege to be able to pray conscientiously for the addicts and those seeking to help them.
Will you accept the challenge to pray for Maxie and her work?
