Background
The Maxie Richards Foundation was founded by Maxie Richards and launched by James Shields, Lord Provost of Glasgow, on 29th October 1994 at Carlston House, Great Western Road, Glasgow. The Lord Provost gave the Foundation a grant from the City Council, congratulated Maxie on her work among addicted people in Glasgow and wished the new Foundation every success.
The King's Court
Maxie Richards realised that providing short-term help for addicted people was not enough, and in 2002 The King's Court was established as a place of recovery for addicted men. The King's Court has its own website at www.kingscourtsupport.com.
Foundation Furniture
Foundation Furniture was opened by Annabel Goldie on 30th November 2009. It provides training and work experience in furniture restoration and similar crafts, and a showroom is attached where visitors can purchase renovated furniture and smaller items made in the workshops.
Home for women
The Board of Directors is actively seeking a facility for young women. Maxie is inundated with calls for help from women who have nowhere to turn and desperately want to change their lifestyle. Please pray that the right place will come at the right price and at an affordable price so that we can respond to this great need.
Funding
Funding for all the activity comes from two charity shops, a factory with showroom, and donations from individuals, organisations and trusts.
